Resurrect

What is one of the first thoughts that goes through one’s mind when they find out that they are having a baby? When I was pregnant with my son, besides being so excited to meet him, I found myself constantly thinking of a name. So naturally, after I met my daughter to be, I started thinking about a name. And it came to me in a second. If you’ve been following our adoption story, you know that my husband was deployed with the Navy at the time when I, not so gently, broke the news to him that I would be bringing home a little girl. Internet on his ship was sketchy and we would go weeks without communication. But one of the few times we were able to chat, he told me he had a name. No hubby, I have the name, I told him. So being the good and patient husband that he is, he let me say my name first. Anastasia. An “A” name like mine and my son’s, to keep her Russian roots, but what I loved most was the meaning, “to resurrect.” So what was my husband’s name for her? Anastasia!! Bringing Anastasia home required so much faith, patience, and perseverance but along the way we were gifted such sweet moments and miracles, for which we are eternally grateful. Happy resurrection Sunday everyone!!
